If you’re running a business or your job involves making sales, you’ll know the importance of self-confidence.
In fact, whatever you do for a living, there have probably been moments where you wish you believed in yourself a little bit more.
A lot of people are intimidated by the idea of self-improvement, because they believe it’ll involve some dramatic shift in their daily life.
But, it doesn’t have to..
While it’s great to engage in public speaking courses, start a YouTube channel or dive into some other extroverted hobby, it’s not strictly necessary.
There are plenty of smaller changes you can make that can have an equally significant impact on your confidence.
Here are five tweaks you can make to your daily routine to help you feel more self-assured, energetic and full of positivity.
1. Clean up your diet
This isn’t only recommended so that you have a healthier, more attractive body (although this can provide a great self-esteem boost).
A number of studies have directly linked junk food diets with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression and poor cognitive function.
For starters, if your diet consists primarily of sugary and processed foods, you’re likely to be denying your body various essential nutrients and vitamins — the lack of which are commonly cited as factors for depression.
This type of diet has also been shown to change the chemical activity in the brain, making it more dependent on the dopamine spikes that come from junk food consumption.
A key study, conducted at the University of Montreal on mice, showed that they suffered extreme withdrawal symptoms after discontinuing a junk food diet. These symptoms can cause an inability to deal with stress, making humans more prone to depression and anxiety.
